Announcements: The On-line Raffle ticket sales was closed on the 15th and Scott said he heard there were people wanting to buy tickets. If you are reading this, go to A-1 Scuba this weekend and buy all you want. If you volunteered to help with the sales this weekend, be sure to show up. Any problems call Scott.
Don talked to Karie, the lady doing our Raffle web pages and helping with the club pages said she is donating her time to the club. A warm WOW and Thank You was heard throughout the club. I have asked her to put something on our web pages to advertise her business which is: https://www.ideashop.com/ (Idea Shop Web Services is a small website development company owned and operated by Karie Farr.) If you need her service or know someone that does, have them go to her web page.
May 31 will be the Clubs Leadership conference so all members are encouraged to attend lunch. There will not be a scheduled program that day.
Information on this year’s Installation Banquet suggestion was sent via e-mail and everyone that that replied said Mimi’s would be a good choice. They about a block south of C-470 off of the Yosemite exit. Mike reserved their private room for June 28, 2018 starting at 6:00PM. Since this is a Thursday, there will not be a lunch that day.

Dick Mason has new King Soopers cards for $25. The club receives %5 back when you use them but don’t let the amount on them get to zero or the card is no good and you would have to buy another one. You can add more value to the cards, just ask Dick on the details.
Put your thinking caps on and come up with ideas for programs. Our Directors are running out of ideas. Also, how about some club events? Miley mentioned one at Top Golf. Any other ideas?
Sertoman of the Day: Mike made the mistake last week of showing up for his annual lunch so he was tagged to be today’s SOD. Mike Ballew was born in Gainesville, Texas in the year 1948. He said that he kept getting bored and added another job to his load. He ran the family drilling business, bought a truck dealership, bought a dairy farm. At 13, working for the family business, his job was to fill the trucks with gas and diesel fuel. On the dairy farm, he said it wasn’t too bad feeding the 250 cows; it was the cleaning up after them that was the fun part.
Mike didn’t have any military; his number was 260 something and didn’t get selected.
He went to law school in Oklahoma City and then moved to Durango to practice law and there met and married Pat, they married in 1986. They moved to Denver in 1987 where he practiced and taught law. This qualified him for his next job of selling Mountain Man Nuts and Candies (he claims he had the hottest and best nuts in town). He then went to work with Lending Tree and then into real estate with ReMax but now works for Arapahoe Co. where he is now (I think, I lost track of keeping track of all his jobs). Mike has no kids but Pat ha a grown son. Pat retired a couple years ago but died in 2017.
In Sertoma, he has held about every position, including a Gold Coat President, Sertoman of the year twice and a 2yr Front Range Governor. Dick Laskey and Barney O’Grady brought him into the club 8-31-89 Listen to MikeBallew.mp3
Program: John Vierthaler introduced……wait for it……John Vierthaler.
John didn’t have a program today so he shared his views on the new tax law, shady lawyers (there are some good ones out there) wills and trusts. He might have been talking to the wrong group when he was telling us how to shelter our $$$ millions of dollars.
Instead of me trying to explain all that John talked about, listen to his talk at John Vierthaler.mp3. You might learn some things you didn’t know.
