Fines:  Scott Manley for a reference to a “little thing”.

Announcements:  Scott’s announcement was to thank Gary for a good year, and then a thank Don Smith and Mike Magee for putting on that “little thing” at Raccoon Creek. Scott later got fined for calling our installation banquet a “little thing”.

Benton warned us that August 1st will be the beginning of the football season and therefore the Bronco pool fundraising.

Tim asked how many people would like a district directory and who need a binder for it. The few that wanted one responded.

If you don’t know what to do or how to perform your duties, ASK.  You can also go on OUR web site and get info on how to do most jobs.  Check out:  https://arapahoesertoma.org/wp-content/uploads/Manuals-and-Documents.pdf or search Sertoma International but do learn about your job.  There is no excuse to get half way through your one year term and not know what your job duties are.

Doug asked Mike to come up and read the letter nominating Joel D. White, Douglas County Sheriff’s Dept.

Service to Mankind Award

Recipient Sgt. Joel D. White – Douglas County Sheriff’s Department
Sgt. Joel White joined the Sheriff’s Department 2L years ago and has been an exceptional deputy. He is the commander of the bomb squad and is also in charge of the Regional Nuclear Stability team.

Sgt. Joel White was the first deputy to enter the building during the recent shooting at STEM school in Highlands Ranch, and he personally carried two wounded students to ambulances. He returned to the shooting area multiple times to save other students and staff from additional injuries. Unfortunately, one student died during this attack.

Joel’s regular duties for the last several years have included being the Commander of the Bomb Squad for Douglas County which included bomb training in Israel. Sgt- White has been the Commander of the Person’s Crime Department for several years which often covers suicides and other deaths.

Sgt. White has received several meritorious service awards:
Medal of Valor
Ron King Award
Purple Heart
Meritorious Service (twice)
Meritorious Conduct
Sheriff Commendation
Major Case Unit

Joel has been married for 24 years and has four children, three sons and one daughter, and two grand kids (one boy and one girl). He graduated from Englewood High School and then served four years in the Marine Corps. When he returned from the Marine Corps he went through the Law Enforcement Academy and joined the Douglas County Sheriff s Department. His first interest is to his family including his Mother, his late father, three brothers and their families. He loves golf and attending his kids’ athletics. He is a member of a Lutheran Church in Denver, CO. Joel is active in the Brotherhood of the Fallen.

Dick Mason mentioned that our Sertoma District will be dissolved as of the end of June and what money the district had was distributed to the clubs in the district. We received $237. Tim made a suggestion that the money should be given to our foundation. After a really negative response from our members, he sat down.

No meeting on the 4th of July.

Gary asked that the new members fill out the page for our book and give it to him and come to him if they have any questions regarding the club.

King Soopers is changing their program to do away with the extra card you have to carry and to put money onto.  It will NOT interfere with your other rewards, it is part of it.

There seems to be some confusion on using or getting signed-up for the King Soopers Program.  It shouldn’t be that hard.  Just follow the above instructions.  If you are problems, get a hold of someone to help you.  If you go to King Soopers and ask about this, take a copy of the above information with you.  Some stores seem to not know what you’re talking about.  It is now called:  KING SOOPERS or City Market COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM
